Applebot
Applebot is Apple's web crawler, the bot that collects web pages for search in Siri, Spotlight and Safari. Apple's support page says allowing it in your robots.txt file lets your pages show up in those results. Apple adds that what it collects may also help train Apple's AI, unless you block a separate name, Applebot-Extended.

What Applebot means for your business
Applebot and Applebot-Extended answer different questions. Blocking Applebot keeps your pages out of Apple's search in Siri, Spotlight and Safari. Blocking Applebot-Extended only opts you out of training Apple's AI, and Apple says your content stays findable in those products. A third control sits on the page itself: Apple says a nosnippet tag keeps that content out of the AI-written answers Siri and Search give to broad questions.
If your robots.txt file doesn't mention Applebot but does mention Googlebot, Apple says Applebot follows the Googlebot rules, so a line written for Google may be steering Apple too. And Applebot may load your page the way a browser does, so Apple says it may not see the page properly if your scripts or style files are blocked.
We'd read your robots.txt file for all three names, Applebot, Applebot-Extended and Googlebot, and confirm any "Applebot" in your logs with Apple's published IP ranges. If you'd like iPhone users who ask Siri to find you, a crawler check that includes Apple's bot is part of our work.
