Why here
For six years I worked out of an agency at Queen and Spadina and optimized businesses in provinces I had to fly to. In Toronto you build everything around the streetcar, the walk, the stop three blocks over, and a clinic a few minutes away counts as close. Then you land in Kelowna and the whole idea of close falls apart. There is no transit to speak of, and people drive an hour, two hours, to reach the same kind of clinic, so a patient searching for one near them means something the Toronto version of that search never says out loud. Same words, different country underneath them. Live downtown long enough and you forget how much of Canada is a long drive between towns.
The fishing client taught me the other half. A trip ran tens of thousands of dollars, a private island reached by helicopter, a chef flown in for the week, and the people typing the search were a wealthy Canadian, an American who books a trip like this every year, and a visitor from overseas who had read about it once. Same query, three reasons, and the only way to sell any of them was to know why that particular water was worth the money to each of them.
A tool sees one search and one intent. I saw the province behind it, because I was the one getting on the plane.

FAQ
Does Plate Lunch Collective work with Canadian businesses, or is this US-only?
+
Plate Lunch Collective works with businesses across Canada. Canada is a full-service market, same tier as the United States. The founder spent seven years working in Canada on a work visa before founding the practice in Hawaii.
How does bilingual search affect AI visibility for a Quebec business?
+
A business in Quebec needs entity signals that resolve in both French and English. Directories, review platforms, and Google Business Profile each handle bilingual data differently. A listing that is complete in English and sparse in French will appear for one language and be absent for the other.
Can you work with a business that operates in multiple provinces?
+
Each province needs its own entity treatment. A restaurant group in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver needs separate entity records, location-specific content, and reviews anchored to each city. The work treats each market as a distinct search context.
How does seasonality in Canada affect the work?
+
Ski season in Whistler, summer on Prince Edward Island, festival season in Montreal. Each generates a different wave of search intent. The entity data and content need to serve the seasonal audience at the moment they are planning, which increasingly means inside an AI conversation weeks or months before arrival.
How do you know the Canadian market?
+
The market knowledge predates the company. Its founder spent years optimizing for clients in every Canadian province, working onsite in cities across the country rather than running everything from a single desk. What that teaches you is that near me is elastic: it means one thing in a transit-dense city and something very different where the nearest option is a long drive, and the same query carries a different journey from province to province. Bilingual search, regional identity, and the distance between a major metro and a mid-size market are things you calibrate by having been there. That is what shapes how Plate Lunch Collective builds a Canadian page.
How does the engagement run?
+
Plate Lunch Collective works with clients as an ongoing partner. The work runs in 90-day cycles: each quarter has a defined scope, you own everything produced, and knowledge transfers throughout. Every 90 days the results go on the table and both sides decide what the next quarter is for.
