AI Search Visibility
AI search visibility is how often your business shows up in AI tools' answers, either named or cited as a source with a link to your page. Microsoft uses the phrase for the cited half: its AI Performance dashboard in Bing Webmaster Tools counts how often your pages are cited in AI answers from Copilot, Bing and partner tools.

What AI Search Visibility means for your business
You'll also hear it called LLM visibility or prompt visibility. All three names come down to one plain question: when buyers ask AI tools about what you sell, how often do the answers name you?
There's no single report for it. SparkToro's January 2026 study found AI answers rarely give the same list of brands twice, so for clients we ask their buyers' questions many times each month in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI answers, and report the share of runs that name you. Google's generative AI report in Search Console and Bing's AI Performance report add each company's own count of how often your pages appeared or were cited.
We'd still put your own numbers first: calls, bookings, form fills, sales and searches for your name. Being named only helps if more of the right people get in touch. We don't put a dollar figure on revenue from AI answers alone, because we haven't seen a tested way to measure it yet.
If you want to know how often AI answers name you today, and which of those numbers to trust, the numbers we track are laid out one by one, each with what it can't tell you.

How AI answers it today
On October 29, 2026, Google's AI Overview used a definition close to an AI tracking vendor's guide and cited tracking tool vendors, Reddit and YouTube, but neither Google's nor Microsoft's own AI reports. ChatGPT gave a similar definition and cited no sources.
