On-Page SEO

On-page SEO is the work done on a web page itself, its words and its code, to help it rank in search and earn the right visitors. Moz, an SEO software company, defines it this way and sets it against off-page SEO, which covers outside factors like links from other sites and a business's social media presence.

What On-Page SEO means for your business

On-page SEO covers the parts you control: the page title, the meta description, headings, the main text, image alt text, the links to your other pages and the page's web address. Technical work, like speed and whether Google can crawl the site, often gets its own name. All of it is old-school SEO, and we still do it.

Google's SEO starter guide says page length alone doesn't matter for ranking: there's no magic word count. And the same text reachable at two web addresses won't get a site penalized, though copying other people's content is a different story.

We'd start with the pages that bring in calls or bookings. For each one, we check that the title and main heading name the service and the place, that the first lines answer what a buyer came to find, and that the page links to the next thing they'd want, like prices or the booking page.

If your service pages rank but the phone doesn't ring, reworking each page so it answers what buyers came to find out is the on-page side of our answer engine work.
