Rich Result
A rich result is a Google search listing that goes beyond the standard blue link, with extras like images, a carousel or other non-text elements. In a December 2017 blog post, Google adopted the name for what it had called rich snippets, rich cards and enriched results. Many depend on structured data, code that labels a page's contents.

What Rich Result means for your business
People still search for the old name, rich snippets, and it means the same thing. Google's general guidelines say structured data makes a page eligible for a rich result but doesn't guarantee one, even when the code passes the Rich Results Test. Google may decide a plain text result suits the search better.
Google also retires rich result types now and then. FAQ and how-to results are two recent ones. Review stars that a local business puts on its own site don't show either.
Google's AI search guide says structured data isn't required to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, and still recommends it because it helps with rich result eligibility. So we'd add markup where a rich result exists for what you offer, like products or events, keep every value matching what the page shows, and check it again after any site change.
If competitors show prices, ratings or event dates in search and your listing is a plain link, checking which result types your pages can qualify for is a quick place for us to begin.
