FAQ Schema
FAQ schema is code added to a web page that labels its frequently asked questions and the answer to each one. It uses FAQPage, one of the labels Schema.org publishes for search engines to read. For pages where visitors post the answers, like a forum, Schema.org has a separate type, QAPage.

What FAQ Schema means for your business
Google used to show FAQ markup as a drop-down of questions under a search result. In August 2023 it cut that back to well-known government and health sites. Google's changelog says the feature stopped showing in Search on May 7, 2026, and Google took its FAQ documentation down that June.
Adding FAQ code won't get you into AI Overviews either: Google's guide for them says there's no special schema.org markup you need. Back in 2023, Google also said markup it doesn't use causes no problems in Search. So we'd leave existing FAQ code alone if it matches the words on the page, and we wouldn't add it expecting a result in Google.
A short list of the questions buyers ask, each answered in two or three plain sentences, still helps the person reading.
If your FAQ was written to win the old drop-down and reads like a list of keywords, rewriting it around what buyers ask is something we'd do early.

How AI answers it today
On October 29, 2026, Google's AI Overview cited SEO blogs, Reddit and YouTube and called FAQ rich results scaled back. ChatGPT cited only Google's testing tool and said they still show for government and health sites, though Google's changelog says they stopped in May 2026.
