AI browser (agentic browser)
An AI browser is a web browser with an AI assistant built in that can read the pages you have open and, in some cases, do tasks on websites for you. Chrome with Gemini built in works this way: Google says Gemini reads your open tabs to answer questions, and its auto browse feature can book an appointment for you.

What AI browser (agentic browser) means for your business
Perplexity's Comet is a browser built around Perplexity's AI assistant, for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. Its page shows people handing it jobs like drafting an email reply or buying an office chair. Google's auto browse was in preview for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. when we checked.
ChatGPT Atlas was OpenAI's browser with ChatGPT built in, launched on October 21, 2025. OpenAI later retired it, setting August 9, 2026 as the day it stopped working, and pointed people to the ChatGPT desktop app for browsing tasks, and to a ChatGPT extension or sidebar in Chrome where it's offered.
To your business, an AI browser is a visitor reading your page for someone else, and sometimes clicking the buttons too. We'd check that what a buyer needs to decide, like what it costs and when you're open, is written on the page and not only inside a photo, and that a booking runs in plain steps without hover menus. How AI answers it today
On October 29, 2026, Google's AI Overview listed ChatGPT Atlas as a current example, though OpenAI set it to stop working on August 9, 2026, and cited Wikipedia, Zapier, Reddit and YouTube. ChatGPT named Comet, Dia, Chrome and Edge and linked each product's page.
