Comparative Query
A comparative query is a search that asks how two or more options stack up, such as whether to rent or buy a house or whether a cat or a dog makes a better pet. Researchers split them into direct ones, which name both options, and indirect ones, which name only the kind of thing, like "which pet is best."

What Comparative Query means for your business
For a business, the indirect kind is the one to watch. A search like "best roofer for a flat roof" names nobody, so the answer decides which businesses the buyer weighs.
When we look at comparison questions in your field, we check what your own pages say about the things buyers weigh: the price range, what's included, how long the job takes and who it suits. If those facts only come up on a sales call, an AI answer has to find them somewhere else. Where a page does compare options, we'd lay it out as a plain table, which is easy to scan.
When buyers ask which option to pick and your business never makes the list, checking what those answers draw on is the first step in our answer engine work.
