Local Business Schema

Local business schema is code on a website that describes a physical business, or one branch of it, using the LocalBusiness type from Schema.org, the shared vocabulary for structured data. Schema.org's examples include a restaurant, a bank branch and a medical practice. It also lists narrower types under it, like Dentist, Restaurant and Store.

What Local Business Schema means for your business

You'll also see it called local structured data. Google's guide describes it as a way to tell Google about details like your hours and your departments, the kind of details in the business panel people see when they search on Google Search or Maps.

Schema.org says the type is for a physical business, so it fits a place customers visit, or a branch of one. An online-only business would use Organization schema instead.

If you have more than one location, we'd give each its own page with its own code, so the hours and phone number for one branch never get mixed up with another's. A store with a pharmacy or a service desk inside can describe each department too. Then we'd check the type you chose against your Google Business Profile category, so both describe the same kind of business.

If Google shows one branch's hours on another branch's listing, giving each location its own clear set of facts is what we'd do first.
