Meta AI
Meta AI is the AI assistant Meta builds into WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger, and offers in its own app and on the web. People chat with it, ask it questions, get recommendations and dig into topics. Meta says it can search the web, and its 2025 launch post said the Meta AI app was built with Llama 4.

What Meta AI means for your business
In July 2026, Meta said Muse Spark 1.1 now powers the Meta AI app and meta.ai. That post doesn't say which model runs inside WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or Messenger.
We'd check that your robots.txt doesn't block Meta-WebIndexer by mistake. Meta says that crawler helps improve Meta AI's search results, and letting it in helps Meta cite and link to your content. Its other two crawlers do different jobs. Meta-ExternalAgent crawls for uses like training AI models. Meta-ExternalFetcher grabs a page when a person asks for it, and Meta says it may skip robots.txt rules.
Meta says that when Meta AI does research for you, it pulls from the web and from what creators and communities share on Meta's apps. For a local business, that makes your Facebook page and Instagram profile worth keeping current, with the same hours, address and website as your site.

How AI answers it today
On October 29, 2026, Google's AI Overview said Meta AI runs on Meta's Llama models, which matches Meta's 2025 launch post but not its July 2026 post naming Muse Spark 1.1 for the app and meta.ai. It cited Reddit, Facebook and YouTube. ChatGPT cited Meta's own pages.
