Person Schema
Person schema is code on a web page that describes a person in a standard format, using the Person type from the Schema.org vocabulary. Schema.org lists properties for the person's name, job title, employer, the schools they went to, the topics they know about, and sameAs links to other pages about them, like their Wikipedia page or official website.

What Person Schema means for your business
Google's guide to article markup uses the Person type for authors. It asks that every author named on the page also appear in the markup, typed as a Person, with only their name in the name field. It reads the url and sameAs fields to tell one author from another.
For a small business, we'd add Person markup in two places: the owner or lead expert on the About page, and the writer on each blog post or guide. We'd fill in the job title and the business they work for, and link the person's LinkedIn profile and any other page that's plainly about them. We wouldn't put a credential in the code that the page itself doesn't mention.
If your posts and guides don't say who wrote them, putting a real person behind your advice is a good place to begin.

How AI answers it today
On October 29, 2026, Google's AI Overview cited schema.org, Google's profile page guide, SEO plugin makers and YouTube, and said the markup helps produce knowledge panels, a claim we didn't find in Google's guides. ChatGPT took it to mean a database table for people records.
