Search Experience Optimization (SXO)
Search experience optimization (SXO) is working on SEO and user experience, meaning how easy a site is to use, together, so a page shows up in search and works for the person who clicks it. Marcus Tober of Searchmetrics, an SEO software company, wrote in 2015 that it was a new name for SEO done honestly, with the visitor first.

What Search Experience Optimization (SXO) means for your business
Tober points to a 2012 Econsultancy article by Ben Potter as an early use, which framed SXO as SEO plus the work of turning visitors into customers. Google's guides don't use the name. Their closest guidance is about page experience. Google says its core ranking systems look to reward content that gives a good page experience, and it tells site owners not to focus on only one or two parts of it. We'd read SXO as a label for doing both jobs at once, rather than a separate kind of work.
On a business site, we'd test what happens after the click. Does the page answer the question the search asked, near the top? Is the next step easy to spot on a phone? Does the page load before they give up and go back?
If people land on your pages from search and can't find your number or booking button, putting what they came for at the top of the page is one of the first things we'd change.
