Disambiguation Page

A disambiguation page is a Wikipedia page that lists the different things a name can mean and links to each one. Wikipedia uses them when one word or name could lead to more than one of its articles, like Mercury the planet, the element and the Roman god.

What Disambiguation Page means for your business

You'll never need to build one. But look your business name up on Wikipedia and see if one exists. If it does, it's a ready-made list of the people, places and companies that share your name. Those are the names we'd test when we check whether AI answers describe the right business.

Wikipedia also picks a primary topic, the meaning most readers are after, and sends the plain name there with a note at the top pointing to the others. If the plain name goes to someone else, you know who's better known. We'd plan around that by always pairing your name with what you do and where, on your site and in your listings.

Wikipedia only lists subjects its articles already cover, so the page isn't a place to add your business. If AI answers about your name keep describing one of the others, setting your business apart from them is the work we'd do instead.

How AI answers it today

On October 29, 2026, both answers gave Wikipedia's meaning with planet and Roman god examples, and Google's AI Overview cited only Wikipedia and Wikidata. Neither said what a disambiguation page means for a business that shares its name.
