Local Pack

The local pack is the SEO trade name for the local search results Google shows when someone searches for a kind of business nearby. It's also called the map pack. Google's help pages just say local search results. The details in each listing come from Business Profiles, which Google builds from the owner, the business's website, licensed data and customers.

What Local Pack means for your business

Google says the facts in your listing come from several places, and you're only one of them. Customers add photos, reviews and facts. Google reads your website and licenses data from other companies. So the listing people see in the local pack, or map pack, can carry details you never typed in.

We'd start by running the searches your buyers run, on a phone, and reading your listing the way they would. Is the category right? Are the hours current? Which photo shows first, and who added it? Then we'd compare it with your website and fix whichever one is wrong.

If the pack shows your old hours or phone number, and an AI assistant repeats the same mistake, tracking down where the wrong fact comes from is work we do.

How AI answers it today

On October 29, 2026, Google's AI Overview cited SEO agency glossaries, Semrush and a YouTube video, and none of Google's own help pages. ChatGPT cited nothing beyond one Semrush image, and both listed relevance, distance and prominence, the factors on Google's help page.
