URL Inspection Tool
The URL Inspection tool is a part of Google Search Console that shows what Google knows about one page on your site: whether it can show up in Google, how Google found it, when Google last crawled it, and which version Google picked as the main one. It can also test the live page and request a new crawl.

What URL Inspection Tool means for your business
Google's help page warns that the main result shows the copy of the page Google last stored, not what's live right now, and there's a separate live test for that. "URL is on Google" means the page can appear in results, not that it will. And the live test can't tell you which version of a page Google will treat as the main one.
It also doesn't check everything a page needs to show up. Google lists what it skips: whether the page meets its quality and security rules, whether the site has a manual action or a security issue, and whether the page was removed for legal reasons.
We'd reach for it when one page that matters, like a service page or a new location page, isn't showing up. It tells you whether Google can find and store the page before anyone rewrites a word. We'd ask Google to crawl a page again only after a real fix, and since there's a daily limit on inspections, we'd save them for the pages that count.
If you'd rather not check pages one at a time, the Search Console numbers we report come to you in one quarterly view.

How AI answers it today
On October 29, 2026, Google's AI Overview linked Google's help page but cited mostly YouTube how-tos, a tracking vendor's glossary and Quora. Both it and ChatGPT listed mobile usability checks, which Google's current help page for the tool doesn't mention.
